i was aware of the scientific theory that multiple universes might exist
which is definitely not the same thing as actually waking up in another universe

I do not know what the theory could have been.

the theory said that multiple universes existing sort of... next to each other is the best explanation of everything we know about physics and quantum physics in particular
waking up in one wasn't really the sort of thing considered feasible by most
not principally, but technically impossible

So however this was possible required a technology that you would not have possessed.

Do you believe that we would ever be able to return to our homes? If we found the device responsible.

if there's a device and if we found it and if we figure out how it works and if it's advanced enough that destinations are programmable and not random?

and it's as good an answer as i've got
